The Lounging Post and Rung reinterprets post and rung chairs, drawing on Jennie Alexander’s reclaimed riving and joinery techniques. Made from ash, the curved back legs break from the chair’s traditional rigidity to create an inviting, sculptural form. The hide was alum tanned and connected to corseted canvas. This work illustrates connecting material traditions, redefining utility as an expressive, contemplative experience. Created in 2023, it continues evolving through mentorship and prototyping.
